Moises Gallardo, the chef and owner of Mezcal’s Mexican Restaurant in Staten Island, moved to New York City where he discovered his passion for the restaurant industry at the young age of 10 years old while working alongside his father. He learned everythingthere was to know about the kitchen from the ground up and eventually transitioned over to the front of the house. Moises’ passion for the restaurant industry grew even more when his family decided to open a restaurant of their own on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn called Mezcal’s - this was the start of it all!
After a couple of years Moises opened up his very own place in Staten Island on 20 Bradley Ave. He searched all over Staten Island for the perfect location and soon stumbled upon what was then a barber shop for rent in a quaint strip mall off Bradley Ave. It was there, in the closed barber shop that he envisioned a fully operating restaurant.
Mezcal’s has now been serving delicious Mexican food for more than 10 years. The menu is a collection of old family recipes combined with some of Moises’ personal creations, making this location different from all the others! The authentic Mexican flavors can be found in every dish from the chicken mole poblano to the sizzling fajitas to the guacamole that is made to order. The restaurant also has an outdoor patio that can be enjoyed all year round. It’s closed off and heated during the winter then opened during the summer so you can enjoy the beautiful weather while sipping on a delicious margarita made with Mezcal’s fresh lemon-lime mix.
Moises & his team work hard to offer everyone that walks through the doors of the restaurant the best dining experience possible. It can get a bit crowded and the parking situation isn’t the best - many regulars will confess - but it’s truly a hidden gem!
